World Press Photo 2011
As always the World Press Photo awards impress. Working within the media means I often see the winning images through photo agencies and in newspapers. But nothing compares to seeing them as part of the exhibition and having the opportunity to read about the stories behind the shots.
Unfortunately this year I was underwhelmed with the exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank centre in London.
The images were displayed in the foyer of the Hall, not given their own space and the exhibition was about the third of the size I've usually seen it in Sydney.
I thought I'd be in for a treat, I still think most things are bigger and better in London!
Nevertheless I'm glad I went to see it, and I've included some shots from a photo essay by Daniele Tamagni called The Flying Cholitas, Goddesses of the Ring about freestyle wrestling in Bolivia. Check out the rest of the images from the exhibition here.
