Snowdonia for New Years Eve

This farmhouse was built in the 16th century and housed a famous Quaker family that went to live in the US. Amazing!

There are a hell of a lot of pictures in this post - sorry! And they are all very green and grey. That's how I would describe Wales - very green and very grey! I have wanted to check out Wales for a long time now, and luckily it wasn't hard to convince the Londoners that it was a good idea to go for New Years Eve.

We arrived at our airbnb cottage after a long(ish) drive from London on New Years Eve and set about eating a load of cheese and drinking wine in front of the wood burning stove. We then went out to one of the local pubs for dinner and drinks for NYE.

The next day was spent either lounging around, playing games, going for a cold and wet walk and drinking more wine. It was perfect.

One the 2nd we drove through the national park to check out Mt Snowden - although we couldn't really see it through the clouds! After that we went for a walk near a village called Dolgellau which was equal parts rainy and funny. Some of us didn't have the right footwear...

Wales really was more than I expected. I think because a lot of Brits make fun of it and talk about how bad the weather is so I didn't have the highest expectations - but I think it was the combination of an easy trip, the best people to go with and lots of time outside that made it so good.

I cannot wait to go back!
