Another week, another sojourn into the Sussex countryside. I have completely and utterly fallen in love with the Sussex area. For me it is the perfect combination of rolling hills, quaint villages with country pubs and farms dotted here and there. While we were driving I spotted a couple of Oast houses, which I had never seen or heard of before. My next mission will be to stop and photograph them, and perhaps find one to check out a little more inside. I think there are a few around Sussex that have been converted into restaurants and hotels - that is now on my list of things to do while here!
But for this visit my dear friend Vivi and her mum were going for a country drive to visit their friend Eliza in her newly purchased 1700's farmhouse and thought I'd like to tag along. I'm so glad I did! The house was amazing, it has been added to and built on over the centuries. Nothing matches, the floor and ceilings in some parts are on slopes and there is rabbit-warren room after room.
Eliza and her husband Mikel have been busy setting the farm up for sheep and they have just celebrated the birth of their first lamb! Which will closely be followed by the birth of the first little lamb of their own. I look forward to more visits in the future, hopefully to help them on the farm.
